Happy Monday everyone, there’s nothing like a bit of activism to get the week started off properly, and this Sunday make sure you make your way down to Brixton Jamm for a special screening of Nana Dankwa’s debut documentary ‘Hip Hop is Bigger than the Occupation.’
The film follows a group of artists including M1 of Dead Prez, conscious rapper Lowkey and journalist/political activist Jody McIntyre on a ten day journey, traveling through Palestine, teaching and performing Non Violent Resistance through the arts. The film highlights the plight of the all-to-often ignored crisis of Palestine and offers first-hand experiences of what it feels like to live under occupation.
The powerful documentary is followed by a Q and A with some of the stars and filmmaker Nana Dankwa and more details can be found here
In the meantime, check out the trailer and prepare to be blown away in precisely six days time.
