The song serves as the first offering from his forthcoming YMCMB debut, and is being distributed through Google’s newly launched Google Music service.
Birdman and Busta chimed in from Miami, via a video posted by Derick G, announcing their partnership.
“He’s the newest of the team. We appreciate you f***in’ with us like that,” Birdman said, after dapping Busta.
“This whole experience that’s getting ready to happen, it’s gonna probably be one of the most defining moments in hip-hop and probably entertainment over all,” Busta added. “I think that this alliance with The Conglomerate and YMCMB, and me and Bird[man] and Wayne, it’s something that’s been a long time coming. We just always had a respect level and a genuine and organic friendship for a very long time. We talking about 10, 12 years ago … but even rocking with each other before that just through the music. As the time has come to past, we’ve grown and always delivered for each other when it came to the music.
“For me, it’s a golden moment, personally. And I think it’s also a golden moment for hip-hop,” he added. “Our experience and genuine love, I think only greatness can come out of that. In fact, we’re going to supersede a lot of levels of expectation.”
MTV spoke with Busta during a launch party for Google Music on Wednesday (November 16), explaining his label move and his initial release through Google’s new service.
“Google/Cash Money/The Conglomerate, it’s unbelievably ground breaking deal. Never been a deal done like this before, where the most powerful search engine in the world combines with the most powerful record company in the world,” Busta explained. “It’s just amazing to see that they understood what Busta Rhymes means to the music, what Busta Rhymes means to the culture, what Busta Rhymes means to the embodiment of authentic hip-hop. I’m very proud to be aligned with Google. I’m extremely proud to be aligned with Cash Money.
“We’re gonna make something in a way that’s never happened in music before, with this project, this new deal,” he continued.
Details of the deal, or Busta’s forthcoming project, were unknown at press time.
However, Busta joins a crowded roster at Cash Money that already includes Lil Wayne, Drake, DJ Khaled, Nicki Minaj, Kevin Rudolf, Bow Wow, Jay Sean, Cory Gunz, the whole Young Money roster, and now, Busta.
