A Brief History Of Sound Clash Culture

With Culture Clash coming up next week in Atlanta, Genius decided to look back at the origins and legacy of sound clash events in collaboration with Red Bull. A sound clash is a musical competition that first originated in the streets of Kingston, Jamaica in the late 1950s. Even hip-hop founding father DJ Kool Herc cited sound clash as a major influence on the development of rap music.
